Al founded Chestnut Partners in 1995. While at Chestnut, he has advised on over $11 billion in completed merger transactions and raised over $850 million in private and public debt and equity financings, including four IPOs. Prior to founding Chestnut Partners, Mr. Holman spent 14 years Kidder, Peabody & Co. Incorporated where he was Managing Director and Head of Kidder’s New England Investment Banking Department with responsibility for all public and private company coverage in New England. Before moving to Boston in 1993, he was based in New York and was the Head of the Technology Finance and Life Science Groups, Co-Head of the Domestic Generalist Coverage Group with responsibility for general industries, Head of the Emerging Growth Group with responsibilities for private growth companies and Co-Head of Kidder’s Japan Banking Group. At Kidder, Mr. Holman publicly and privately raised over $2 billion of capital including 10 initial public offerings (including lead IPO banker for Genzyme and Vertex Pharmaceuticals) and completed numerous acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and tender defense assignments. He previously chaired the Mergers and Acquisition Department’s Fairness Opinion Committee and co-chaired the Investment Banking Department’s Year-end Management Committee. Mr. Holman is a graduate of Harvard University’s Graduate School of Business Administration and the University of Michigan.

Mr. Holman is a Trustee of Mass General Brigham (formerly Partners HealthCare) where he chairs the Finance Committee and is a member of the Investment and Audit and Compliance Committees. Mr. Holman is also a Trustee of Brigham Health (member of Finance Committee), and a Trustee of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Inc. (member of Executive, Philanthropy (co-head), and Finance Committees). He is a Trustee Emeritus of the Boston Ballet and past co-chair of its Governance Committee.

Adam is a value creation thought partner for management teams and boards of life sciences companies. He focuses on analyzing and enhancing value creation opportunities and optimizing strategic transaction outcomes. He has advised clients on M&A and corporate partnership transactions totaling over $17 billion in potential proceeds, including over $8 billion upfront. Mr. Volwiler joined Chestnut in 2009. From 2014-2017, he was head of investment analysis for Glen Capital Partners LLC, an investment manager that he helped establish for a client of Chestnut Partners. Glen Capital takes a private equity approach to investing in small-capitalization public companies in the healthcare, industrials, technology, financial services, and business services sectors. Mr. Volwiler holds a B.A. degree in Biochemistry with high honors from Middlebury College.

Allen joined Chestnut Partners in 2023. Prior to joining Chestnut, he served as Chief Business Officer at Voyager Therapeutics, a publicly-traded biotechnology company focused on developing gene therapies for severe neurological disease. During his five-year tenure at Voyager, Mr. Nunnally led transactions that generated $500 million up front and the potential for over $10 billion including milestone payments. Prior to Voyager, Mr. Nunnally served as Vice President of Corporate and Business Development and Associate General Counsel at Foundation Medicine, a cancer genomic diagnostics company. At Foundation Medicine, he led transactions relating to its biopharmaceutical business and directed the company’s intellectual property strategy. Mr. Nunnally represented Foundation Medicine in its Series B financing and oversubscribed IPO and co-led the expansive R&D collaboration transaction at the core of Roche’s $1 billion+ purchase of a majority interest in, and subsequent complete acquisition of, the company. Mr. Nunnally previously spent 10 years at the law firm Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering, Hale and Dorr LLP, representing organizations ranging from Fortune 500 biopharma companies to early-stage biotech startups. He serves on the board of directors of Friends of the Children-Boston, a non-profit organization that supports underserved children with intensive, professional mentoring from kindergarten all the way through high-school graduation to help them achieve their greatest potential.

Mr. Nunnally holds a B.A. from Amherst College, where he double majored in in biology and law, jurisprudence and social thought, and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law with a concentration in intellectual property law.
